OFFICIAL SUNBORNE LEGACY FAQ

Want to know our stance on issues and our alignment?  How we work and why?  How to apply?  If your character fits?  This is your guide to understanding this guild's ideals and the 411 on it's makeup and history.  This guide is updated as necessary or as issues arise to add to it's collective information.

Q:  What sort of Alignment does Sunborne Legacy have in general and as a whole?

The alignment Sunborne Legacy fits into most is - Neutral Good as a general rule. The following is an exerpt from wowwiki.com describing this alignment.  Not all characters can be defined by this one generalization though - but the goals and oriented direction of Sunborne Legacy and it's basis are centered around this basic alignment concept.

Neutral Good

  • Ultimately a giver, the neutral good character will do what they can to help, working within law or chaos; but ultimately they prefer their own counsel.

Q:  What type or style of RP guild is Sunborne Legacy?

There are lots of styles and types and premises for RP guilds.  Sunborne Legacy operates as a House style guild generally, but we are bound together by common goals and objectives with a hierarchy type of chain of command.  Non-officer members may move up in rank from Initiative to full fledged Member, and then to Honored Member, Revered Member, and Exalted Member depending on their activity, involvement, participation and so forth which earn "Guild reputation points"  These points as well as IC interviews and requirements allow privilege and abilities within the guild to increase.  Longevity in the guild is also rewarded.

Q:  Am I allowed in your guild's designated OOC channel - SunborneOOC?

Yes.  This channel is open to guilded characters, member alts, as well as friends of the guild or interested parties.  You might be asked who you are, but you will be treated kindly and questions answered.  For the most accurate information, ask for an Officer of the guild to address questions toward should there be one online at the time.  All we ask is general courtesy to all in the channel.  Should anyone treat you disrespectfully or unkindly you may report them to Yvaynne through in-game mail and the issue will be addressed.

Q:  Do you have a guild Tabbard and what does it look like?

Yes - we have a tabbard.  It's a white background with a golden sunburst and bordered in the gold segmented line.  It symbolizes new hope and a bright future.

Q:  How does Sunborne Legacy feel about Death Knights?

Now that time has passed since the first return of some of these previously will-imprisoned citizens, the skepticism and the feeling of betrayal have dwindled a little.  So long as they individual character is truly freed of the Lich King's hold and no longer serves him, instead wishing to serve Sunborne Legacy and it's cause, Death Knights are welcomed within the ranks.

Q:  How does Sunborne Legacy feel about Blood Knights?

Since the completion of the story arc concerning the Blood Knights and the Sunwell, there seem to be two kinds of Blood Knights - Those that followed Lady Liadrin to the Shattered Sun Offensive as well as who have atoned for their previous offenses against the Light as well as the Naaru named M'uru, previously captured and siphoned in Silvermoon City are welcomed among the ranks of the Sunborne.

True Paladin Blood Knights - Those that are true paladins now or always drawing on the Light itself, have always been welcomed with open arms.  The Blood knights that have followed Lady Liadrin in her atonement to the Light and the Naaru A'dal are also welcomed with open arms.

Rebellious Blood Knights - The Blood Knights that rebelled and prefer instead to siphon the remaining power stored in the magisters that used to hold M'uru prisoner and refuse to follow Lady Liadrin or the correct traditions of the Light are not welcomed among the Sunborne.

Q:  How does Sunborne Legacy feel about various forms of Dark Arts?

To study the Darker Arts in the Warcraft universe is to tamper with danger and fire, however, an understanding of the workings is a necessary preparation because every character will come up against those who wield these darker magics without caution or distinction.  Becoming too involved in darker arts can lead to paths that take the character away from the general populace of the guild, and now and then there have been storylines in which we have had to rescue or redeem those who have walked too far into the darkness of these alluring shadows.

Necromancy in particular is regarded with extreme caution.  It has to be understood, but to be fully practiced would send the character into areas of the Scourge and the cultists, groups that come into conflict with Sunborne and it's directives.

Warlocks are trained carefully as to how to deal with their specialities without harming others or themselves as much as is possible.

Death Knights sometimes have little choice in their situation, but are cautioned to do as little with these darker hungers and cravings as they possibly can.

Shadow magics are not considered evil, but rather a darker form of the Light in some form.  They are not as dangerous, but still taught with caution.

Q:  Are there any factions that Sunborne Legacy particularly identifies with?

There are numerous factions that the Sunborne Legacy is neutral about and these are entirely player decided.  However there is one particular faction that Sunborne Legacy whole heartedly supports and that is the Shattered Sun Offensive.  Reaching Exalted with this faction increases your rank in Sunborne Legacy as well as your character's over all prestige.

Q:  Does Sunborne Legacy allow all classes and alignments?

We do allow all classes that a Blood Elf may be in-game thus far.

However, alignment is another issue.  As our general alignment is Neutral Good, we tend to seek characters that would fit closely with this standpoint. Our goals and direction are not evil oriented, so in general, Neutral or Good types of characters fit in better with the over all guild.

Q:  What does Sunborne Legacy NOT accept as far as character basis goes?

We operate within the cannon of the official Lore.  This means that there are guidelines we look for in characters that join.  Having a unique character doesn't rule you out.  You simply have to have a reasonably lore-based background for your character.  That being said, there are some types that we have determined we will not accept:

Dragons (whether in disguise or not - too powerful, too difficult)

Werewolves, Worgen, Partial Worgen, Lycan of any kind

Vampires in the traditional sense

Gods or Goddesses

Non-playable races

Robotic combinations such as constructs and partial robotic bodies

If it's not considered possible and plausible in the Blizzard designated Warcraft Universe - we will not accept it.  Over-Powered characters, and those that have abilities that never fail, are above a decently normal status will also be rejected.  These kinds of characters make the situation in functioning as a guild difficult to work with.  That being said, if you wish to rework your character, you may do so with or without our help and re-apply.  We don't wish to appear hardnosed on this point, but there have to be boundaries.

As an note of interest - those who RP the playable Blood Elf class but whose story says they are High Elves are allowable based upon situation.  Blood Elves and High Elves split not too long beforehand, and are very similar in history and attributes as well as heritage.

Basically so long as your character meets two criteria - it is either allowable or considerable:

1)  Lore-possible background and character base.

2)  Logically compatible with the guild and it's objectives.

Q:  How does guild chat work?

Guild Chat serves as a physical location for Sunborne Estates.  Lady Yvaynne's palacial home at one point, it was deserted and empty and richly furnished.  Damaged in the attack on Silvermoon, it has now been restored to it's rich glory and luxury that once housed the family of one of the members of the Convocation of Silvermoon.

The gates have been protected by converted Arcane sentries loyal to the House of Sunborne, and they have been sealed physically to the rest of the city to protect those that call the estates home.  Lady Yvaynne opened her home as the headquarters of the order she established upon her return to the city after it's demise.

To attain entrance, one must have access to a "sun orb" which is a small glowing orb that fits in the palm of one hand.  It acts as a teleportation/hearth straight to Sunborne Estates from anywhere, and a key of magical sorts.  An orb can open the gates physically from both the inside and the outside.  The sun orbs were created to link to the Sun Stone located in the Great Hall of the estates.  It sits upon a pedestal, hovering and glowing in it's power.  It was created from pure arcane before the Sunwell was destroyed.  The Sun orbs can be used as communication devices, and sometimes tracking devices should that feature be turned on.  (thus facilitating whisper RP ability, and finding other players in game.

The gates of Sunborne Estate are located between the alcoves for enchanting and alchemy training in the Court of the Sun in Silvermoon City.

The estate has housing quarters, extensive libraries, laboratories, weaponries, a fully functional staff and guard, as well as practice grounds for the Protectorate, and protected Spell Grounds for the Magisterium.  There is also a section of courtyard and guardens that lead from the gates to the entrance of the Great Hall.

Q:  How do I apply to the guild?

Applying to the guild is fairly easy.  It's a two step process.

1) fill out the on site application - this is a screening process for applicants so we know who you are and if you generally fit the guild.  It's composed of easy quick questions about you the player, and your character.  The application is located on on the HOME page on the left hand side column under "Membership", click the link called "Apply to Guild".

2) Once your screening application has been seen by an officer (which generally happens in 1-24 hours.  You will be approached in-game by an officer for either an interview ICly to bring you follow up on your application, or to let you know if there were any concerns or questions with your application.

Once these steps are completed and it is determined your character fits with the guild and visa versa, an invitation will be issued.

Q:  Why does Sunborne only accept the Blood Elf race?

Our guild basis, premise, and storyline are entirely based upon the Blood Elf race and history.  We have Blood Elf oriented goals, structure, location, and so on.  The guild's storyline progression runs parallel to the Blood Elf storyline arc in-game with the official lore as it progresses.  Due to this - other races are not accepted into the guild, but can become trusted by the Sunborne on an individual basis or through an Alliance.

Q:  What expectations do you have of members of the guild?

Guild members are expected to Roleplay with each other, randomly, and in guildchat with the guild.

They are expected to be registered on the site and actively checking the forums for information weekly if not more often.

They are expected to be active unless they have given notice on the forums of a need for a Hiatus or time of absentia for real life reasons.

They are expected to respect other players, and represent the guild both in game mechanics as well as in roleplay.

They are expected to work together as a mature body of players to avoid drama situations.

They are expected to familiarize themselves with the charter, and the site to a functional level and to ask for assistance in areas in which they need it.

Fast levelling, PvP, Raiding, and other such things are not required of members, but they may choose to participate in them if they wish.  For the most part this guild functions as a fun environment to enjoy the game as well as to participate in roleplay with each other.

Q:  Does Sunborne Legacy have any enemies?

The NPC Enemies we have declared have to do with the general Blood Elf Storyline.

Arthas Menethil, the Lich King & the Scourge:  He is responsible for the destruction of Silvermoon, and the Sunwell, as well as the deaths of so many of the High Elven nation.

Kael'Thas Sunstrider:  The prince who betrayed both his people, and enslaved them with unnecessary fel crystals, and then turned his back on them entirely.  He is considered the fallen link of the Sunstrider Dynasty.

There are no player identified enemies of the guild in general.  Individual characters are free to have their own enemies, friendships, prejudices and experiences.

There is only one officer given this rank.

Q:  What is the role of the Emissary Rank?

The role of the Emissary is that of general public relations.  This officer has been designated as our official liason between guilds, and as the person in charge of recruitment for the guild as a whole.  You can also think of them as HR and PR in some regards.  They represent the Sunborne Legacy in attendance at gatherings either along with the Guild Leader, or in her place.  ICly - this officer represents and speaks for the Guild Leader and the guild as a whole.

There is only one officer given this rank.

Q:  What does "Heavy RP" mean?

Heavy RP stands for a level of Roleplay.  This means that in /say or in /guildchat we are always in character.  There are times we choose to quest and do other pursuits in game, but if approached by a roleplayer, please interact with them ICly.  The level of Heavy designates that we try to make roleplay our primary function of the guild as a whole.  It means full time or always in-character.  This does not mean you have to spend all of your time in game engaged in roleplay exclusively.  There are many facets to the game to enjoy beyond roleplay alone.
